The Hobbit Part 1 - December 2012

Although Peter Jackson won't be directing this new two-part prequel to the Lord of the Rings saga, he will be producing and writing for it.
The Hobbit, based on J.R.R. Tolkien's early children's classic, will follow a younger Bilbo Baggins who agrees to journey to the Misty Mountain with a company of dwarves in order to defeat the great dragon Smaug.
So far, Lord of the Rings favorites Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving, Ian McKellen, and Andy Serkis (Gollum, oh yeah) are rumored to be involved with the project. Everyone from Daniel Radcliffe to James McAvoy are rumored to play Bilbo Baggins.
