Opponents of Muammar Gaddafi's regime appear to be firmly in control of the oil-producing coastal region of eastern Libya on Wednesday and confident that the long-time leader's downfall was imminent.
The Libyan leader's opponents have embraced the 1951 independence flag as the standard of their movement, abandoning the plain, Islamic green national flag of Gaddafi's regime.
